Preparing for the quit date!

April, 10, 2013

Preparing for the BIG day!

My Quit date is April 12, 2013

OK! I am going to try and quit smoking again. Like many others I have tried quitting smoking several times in the past. This time I have a good feeling
Actually I have smoked for 34 years and this time I am asking for advice and help from anyone that can help. I have tried with the generic patches and I tried quitting cold turkey but, I always break down after about 3days to 1 week.

I see where some people go 2 to 3 months and go back to smoking. I haven't made it that far but IF I can make it to 2 months I hope I'll be able to stay Smoke free.

Preparing for the quit day.

I have registered for several quit smoking sites on the internet. I have made a quit smoking contract for myself .

This time I am trying the Nicoderm CQ (R) clear patch.  When I was in the hospital for six (6) days they started a Nicoderm patch and I didn't crave a cigarette or anything but, about 2 hours after the patch was removed and I was discharged I had to get a pack of cigarettes! UGHHHH.

I live alone and that I think is what they call a 2 fold  one hand - I don't have to deal with having a smoker in the apartment to attempt me to smoke but on the other hand I don't have anyone to lean on when things get tough. I think that is why I am trying to do a blog for the first time.

Also, any advice on writing a blog or help with the blog will also be appreciated!

I got a guitar and a beginner guitar lessons book with a DVD. I have wanted to learn the guitar since I was a 8 or 9 years old this is to keep my hands busy and I also have word search books and crossword books.
I noticed that cigarettes don't taste very good after you have hade cinnamon so I have got some cinnamon gum and cinnamon hard candy and of course I have some chocolate. I still need to get a bag of those dum-dum  suckers, I'll get those today or tomorrow.
At the moment My apartment is a mess. I have only kept the dishes and kitchen clean and haven't touched the bedroom or living room. I am going to use that as something to keep me busy for this weekend for my first 2  or 3 days of stopping smoking. I can clean the apartment, take down the drapes and wash them and clean the upholstery on my furniture and wash all of my clothes. (even the clean clothes in the closet) anything that might have cigarette smell on it is going to be cleaned.
on Monday 4/13/2013 I'm going to ask the manager for some paint so I can paint the walls and really get rid of all of the smoke.

well, that is it for now. again any advice on stopping smoking or blogging will be greatly appreciated.
